Our pets bring a new dimension to the word ́'family'. As a pet carer myself, I know just how much joy, energy and fun they can bring into the home along with the mess and chaos sometimes too - remember, I have goats! Losing them is tough but I would cry those tears a million times again for all of the selfless love and joy they give to me.
Our pets have their own unique characters! This is something I like to capture in the portraits I paint to create the best all-round representation of your very special members of the family, furry, feathered or otherwise. The eyes are the route to the soul and so I tend to focus on this part in particular. A minimum of A4 size allows for the level of detail necessary to get the best results.
What a thoughtful gift to immortalise these dearest of companions in watercolour. It's an honour and a pleasure for me so if you would like to commission yours, just contact me for further information. All come signed along with authenticity certificates as they are originals after all!
We received the portrait of Oswald today. It is so fantastic you have captured his personality in the painting. We now have Oswald forever. Thank you so much Catherine for doing this lovely painting for us. We will be back for more...

What sizes are available?
I generally offer 3 sizes but it is possible to go larger if the portrait is of more than one pet. The smallest is 7x10 inch which is definitely only for one subject and then 9x12 inch and 11 x 14 inch.
What materials do you use?
The portraits are painted on minimum of 300gsm/140lb cold pressed acid-free cotton of museum quality. Combined with the highest grade of pigment paints such as Daniel Smith, Schmincke, Winsor & Newton and Art Philosophy, the painting is archival and should outlive us all if cared for correctly.
What are the prices for a pet portrait?
Prices are provided as part of the initial consultation with you but they start from 40 euros for the smallest size based on one subject for example.
How long does a pet portrait take to produce?
A small portrait can take 4 - 6 hours depending on the complexity whilst medium and larger pieces can take up to 12 hours.
How long do I need to allow for production and then shipping?
I produce portraits in the order in which they are requested which means that sometimes I have a few on the list when a new request comes forward - it is generally between 2-3 weeks before it is ready for shipping. When you contact me initially with your request, I will provide a price along with an estimated timescale for painting and approximately when it will be ready to be shipped.
What are the shipping timescales?
The portraits are shipped from here in Spain by recorded delivery which means you will need to sign for it when it arrives. A guide based on where it is being shipped is as follows:
How are the portraits shipped?
All portraits of standard sizes are shipped flat in protective cellophane sleeves with backing boards and additional card for support. They come complete with a certificate of authenticity with a unique number, details of the materials used, date completed and are personally signed by me. The portraits are also lightly signed discreetly on the front too.
What do I need to do next if I want to enquire about a pet portrait?
It's simple - just complete the contact section above or anywhere on the website explaining what it is you would ideally like me to create, the timescale in which I have to create it for you (including time to safely ship it to you) and most importantly, some quality photos of the subject. I can also be contacted via my social media sites (@pocolocostudios on Facebook, Instagram - private message services) or by email at info@pocolocostudios.com
What would be your top tips for taking photos of my pet for the portrait?
What are your terms of payment?
As soon as we have agreed what it is that you would ideally like and exchanged photos etc, I will make an initial drawing which I will share with you. At this point, 50% of the total cost is payable. The remainder is due once the portrait is complete and a photo has been sent to you for approval before shipping. I use Paypal but if you do not use this method, we can agree an alternative such as bank transfer. You can also find pet portraits listed in my Etsy shop and can follow this route using their secure system for payment.
**Please note that if you do use this method, due to the Etsy payment terms, the full payment is due when the order is placed.
